01

Are there only two genders, male and female? I’ve heard someone say they’re non-binary.

Gender is a broad concept that includes male, female, non-binary, transgender, intersex, and more. Gender is not a simple binary classification; it’s a spectrum with many categories. Everyone is welcome to learn more about it.

02

Is homosexuality a disease or a psychological disorder?

Homosexuality is a natural sexual orientation, just like heterosexuality, and is perfectly normal. Most global psychiatric and psychological organizations have recognized this and have removed homosexuality from the list of psychological disorders.

03

Are gender and sexual orientation the same thing?

Gender and sexual orientation are two different concepts. Gender refers to a person’s social identity, while sexual orientation refers to whom a person is attracted to.

04

Are transgender people just trying to imitate the opposite sex, or are they cross-dressers or drag queens?

Transgender people are those who feel that their gender identity is different from the sex they were assigned at birth. They aren’t imitating the opposite sex; they are expressing their true gender identity.

05

Are gender and biological sex the same thing?

Gender and biological sex are different concepts. Biological sex refers to a person’s reproductive organs and physical attributes, while gender refers to their identity in society. Although biological sex and gender are usually aligned, there are exceptions, such as transgender and non-binary individuals.

06

Must everyone have a clear gender identity?

Some people may not have a clear gender identity. They might identify as non-binary, intersex, or another gender. Each person’s gender identity is unique, and there is no fixed pattern.

07

Can gender and sexual orientation be "cured"?

Gender and sexual orientation are innate characteristics that cannot be “cured.” There are some so-called “conversion therapies” that attempt to change a person’s sexual orientation, but many individuals report that these treatments cause pain and harm.

08

Do all transgender people need to undergo gender reassignment surgery?

Gender reassignment surgery is an option for some transgender individuals, but not all choose to have the surgery. These surgeries, especially female-to-male procedures, are complex and carry risks, so not everyone will undergo them. Gender identity is an internal sense of self, not just a physical characteristic.

09

It seems like homosexuality has become a trend, with more people coming out.

Homosexuality is not a trend or a fad; it’s a naturally occurring phenomenon. In recent years, society’s growing understanding and acceptance of diverse genders and sexual orientations may have made some LGBTQ+ individuals feel more understood and respected, leading them to come out. However, not every LGBTQ+ person feels the need to come out to express their orientation.

10

Do only gay men engage in anal sex?

In reality, there are many ways that gay men can engage in sexual activity, and anal sex is just one of them. They might also engage in oral sex or use sex toys. Sexual activity is a personal choice and is not determined by one’s sexual orientation. Anal sex can also occur in heterosexual relationships.
